Background

SEAPOWER - ASSOCIAÇÃO PARA O DESENVOLVIMENTO DA ECONOMIA DO MAR (SEAPOWER) is a private law association with a vocation for developing innovative projects linked to the blue economy, with a management model and entrepreneurial dynamics.

Set up in 2022 on the initiative of the University of Coimbra and in close collaboration with entities linked to the blue economy with the aim of enhancing knowledge and innovation by fostering strong relations with the business fabric, SEAPOWER is committed to developing an ecosystem capable of providing a response of excellence in the delivery of products and services, geared towards the R&D+i needs of Portuguese companies, through technological prospecting, innovation, technology transfer, prototyping, technical-scientific consultancy and service provision activities.

SEAPOWER also has a strong commitment to training, with the aim of providing the business community in general and industry in particular with a training model based on the acquisition of technical knowledge and proven skills for industry, in conjunction with academia, especially the University of Coimbra, complementing and developing the training offer in areas associated with industries linked to the blue economy.

The challenges associated with the energy transition and the decarbonization of the blue economy, the fight against climate change and the digitalization of industry alone define the need to create SEAPOWER as the only Transfer and Innovation Centre (CTI) exclusively linked to the blue economy.
