Why the centre RD&I Sea

A atividade do SEAPOWER tem como objetivos fundamentais:

  • Promover a valorização económica do conhecimento através do reforço da partilha de conhecimento entre a academia e a indústria, estimulando a proteção da propriedade intelectual e suporte ao lançamento de start-ups tecnológicas ligadas á economia azul;
  • Promover a participação das empresas nacionais em projetos de I&D+i nacionais e europeus;
  • Disponibilizando os recursos humanos, a infraestrutura física e o conhecimento necessários que permitam desenvolver programas de demonstração de I&D+i no sector da economia azul;
  • Promover o suporte a projetos de investigação no âmbito de teses de mestrado e de doutoramento;
  • Potenciar a capacidade nacional de responder, às tendências dos setores ligados á economia azul e aos seus desafios específicos de inovação;
  • Auxiliar na qualificação de recursos humanos das empresas, sobretudo em atividades de I&D+i aplicada, e de formação especializada.
SEAPOWER is located in the Coimbra-Figueira da Foz axis, a region marked by the existence of several infrastructures related to the Sea. And it will play a leveraging role in the creation of value in this axis.

A Synergy Strong

Promotion of the Coimbra - Figueira da Foz axisThe project, which is still not very active in the field of R&D&I, is essential to the dynamics of the project:

  • the existence of various access infrastructures to the sea, where the SEAPOWER Competence Centre can play a fundamental role.

The articulation with the University of Coimbra is a key element in the development of this strategy and the consolidation of know-how associated with the Sea, with:

  • Creating strong ties with structures
  • Associated Laboratories, Interface Centres
  • Collaborative Labs,

which will allow for a more comprehensive positioning in the value chain of the Economy of the Sea.

A key element in the development of this strategy and the consolidation of the know-how associated with the Sea, with:

  • Creation of strong links with the structures and Associated Laboratories;
  • Interface Centers and Collaborative Laboratories that will allow a more comprehensive positioning in the value chain of the Economy of the Sea.
